BlueCheck makes it possible – and simple – to detect caries lesions early by making them easily visible with a distinct blue colour through a convenient procedure using a removable detection aid.
The problem is that early caries lesions aren’t easily visible, so they’re not detected – and as decay progresses, the ability to halt or even reverse disease decreases and the cost of surgical treatment increases, resulting in the permanent loss of tooth structure.
With earlier diagnosis, minimally invasive strategies and treatments can be initiated sooner, enamel damage can be prevented and reversed, and outcomes for patients are improved.
BlueCheck uses a natural protein-binding chemistry to attach to porous dental hydroxyapatite (active sites of demineralization), with sensitive detection of pre-visible lesions (~50um) and deeper colouration for deeper lesions. Healthy enamel and arrested lesions do not turn blue. Whole mouth application by dental professional, no additional equipment or lighting needed. Available for sale in the US.
